Family Health Tips: Healthy summer food choices and exercise for kids!
The lazy days of summer are upon us, as children are home for summer vacation more are spending time in front of the television and online than they do during the school year. Aside from missing out on the school routine, healthy meals, organized family meals and daily exercise or sport programs, kids are often snacking on unhealthy foods. With a little planning and prodding we can help our children make healthier summer eating choices and encourage them to get more exercise and fresh air. Business Week points out that according to the American Journal of Public Health the Body Mass Index (BMI) of school aged children was higher in the summer months rather than the school year.
