Weekly Updates

Week 1:

The Lunchbox Tour has officially kicked off and we had an awesome week here in Denver! We are catching the tail end of summer as some kids have already gone back to the classroom but others still have a few last days of summertime left! We made stops at the Woodward Skate Park this week and also made sure to check out the Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huck Jam where many skaters got their Lunchbox Tour goodie bags while waiting in line in the pouring rain!

We didn't let the weather slow us down a bit though and over the weekend we stopped by the Race for Allergies in Washington Park where many participants and their families enjoyed the healthy and natural options we offered them. All of the mothers at the Race for Allergies loved the "no high fructose corn syrup" in any of our Lunchbox Tour snacks.

We also stopped by The Golden Fine Arts Festival which had an outstanding crowd who were all very enthusiastic about the bags! Many parents commented on how they try to stick to organic and are going 'all natural' this school year!

Next week look out for us at the Whole Foods Back to School events at the Superior store on August 21 and at the Belmar store on August 23. We'll also be making stops all over Denver at parks and amusements parks so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Lunchbox Tour van!

Week 2:

We had a fun and successful second week of the Lunchbox Tour! We participated in two Whole Foods Back to School Taste Fairs here in Denver and both times we had lots of fun with kids and families as well as the numerous other natural companies that were also there! The Fair at the Belmar Whole Foods even had the Fun Bus for the kids and the turnout was tremendous! We made tons of stops this week as kids are settling back into school. We went by Dicks Sporting Fields and caught many kids' football teams practicing for the fall season. We also went to Belleview Park where there was a school fundraiser going on. The kids and parent all loved the bags, even those from the dunk tank! Our biggest success was at Heritage Square. It was packed with kids and parents who were also thrilled with our Lunchbox Tour samples and coupons. Next week will be our busiest yet. Look for us at Whole Foods Cherry Creek, Taste of Colorado, and all around Boulder!

Week 3:

Our third week of the Lunchbox Tour was great fun! We began the week on Friday at an extremely busy Whole Foods where our bags and samples were a big hit- we were slammed! After our demo we drove downtown to The Taste of Colorado festival and even though most of the Democratic National conventioneers had left town the festival was full of families who wanted to beat the weekend crowds. We hit The Taste of Colorado guerrilla style with our Lunchbox bags up our arms and made a lot of kids very happy. On Saturday we headed up to Boulder for the Farmer's Market where we caught quite a few kids before completing two Boulder store demos and on Labor Day we headed back up to Boulder again for the Boulder Creek Hometown Fair. Next week look for us on Saturday at the Hop, Skip and a Jump mini-ma rathon at the Denver Children's Museum!

Week 4:

We started our fourth week with a return trip to the Butterfly Pavilion. They were thrilled to see us and appreciative of the bags we left. This week we also passed by a school with a sign for Family Film night Tonight! They too were excited to receive the 150 bags which they said should just cover their movie audience. We had a great week at store demos and educated a lot of converts to healthy eating. On Saturday we joined other healthy booths at the Children's Museum annual Hop, Skip and Jump race. The kids were adorable and they loved the snacks and bags! After leaving there we drove to Bible Park and arrived just as all the kids football teams were in between games. All the parents and coaches were excited to get our snack bags! When we had covered all the football athletes and parents there we went to Cook Park and found girls soccer games so we were once again heroes to the teams and moms! Our final guerilla stop was to Heritage Square amusement park and the moms were ecstatic for our Lunchbox snacks.

Next week will look for us in Colorado Springs following some great local TV and radio advertisements promoting our Lunchbox Tour. We will be in Colorado Springs Thursday and Friday, then back in Denver for the Park Hill Bike Ride and Summerset Festival on Saturday.

Week 5

We completed another wonderful and successful week of our Lunchbox Tour! We began our week in Colorado Springs where we were preceded by some awesome promotions both on TV and in the newspaper and when we arrived at Whole Foods for our demos we were told that people were already asking for us. The enthusiasm was high and our sponsors benefited tremendously. Parents in the Springs as well as Denver are really interested in seeking out healthy alternatives for their children's lunches.

Over the weekend we enjoyed a fabulous event in our beautiful Colorado mountains called the Hike for Youth and everyone there was into healthy activities and eating. It was a beautiful day in the Rocky Mountians!

We also made a stop at the Littleton Summerset Festival at Clement Park where we found many kids and parent enjoying the sunshine. On Sunday we had another successful day. We began the day at the Tiny Tots Trot raising funds for Children's Hospital. We fit right in to the theme of healthy kids again with our snack bags. The racers were thrilled to get them! On Monday we headed to Westminster for a LOHAS stop in anticipation of a Community Carnival. We also dropped off our bags at Front Range Waldorf School and at Mile Hi Church of Religious Science.

Additionally we made stops at a little league hockey game and soccer game. Another stop was at Gymboree in Parker which is one of the growing neighborhoods in Colorado. Our last LOHAS was at Praying Hands Ranches. They see 100 kids a day working with special needs kids and horses. They loved the bags and told the instructors to give one to each family.

This week, our sixth and last week, look for us in Boulder. We will have a booth at the Boulder Fall Festival. We will also be at Ideal Market and Whole Foods in Boulder along with Whole Foods Westminster and Lakewood. It is hard to believe that this is the last week- it has been such a blast!

Week 6

As our final week comes to a close it's hard to believe that we won't be discussing the healthy benefits of eating Rudi's Organic Bread, Clif ZBars, Clif Twisted Fruit, Bare Naked granola, and Mighty Bites anymore! It was a fabulous week to wrap up the tour. We began the week in Boulder at a very busy Whole Foods. Customers loved all of our samples and we were thrilled with their enthusiasm of all that we offered.

Over the weekend we had a booth at the Boulder Fall Festival right next to the Kids Zone. It felt like all of Boulder turned out for this event at one time or another! The kids quickly recognized the products either from their pantry at home or from what their friends bring to school. They were thrilled and parents were eager to learn about new products and pleased to see that we were serving good and healthy snacks.

Monday was the last day of the tour and we demoed at the last 2 Whole Foods. We were well received and met with many families and kids. They loved the products and some frantic parents stopped to ask our advice on packing lunches for school. Throughout the tour we constantly heard that it is so difficult for them to send healthy snacks to school! We have been so pleased to be able inform them of our snacks and bread which fit the healthy bill for the family. We have been honored to make a contribution to the lunch choices of families and kids of Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs!
