Grilled Tuna Burgers
Recipe submitted by Jeanna H. of Pittsburgh, PA for the Mambolicious Recipe Contest 2009.
Ingredients:
- 2 6-oz. cans of tuna, drained and flaked
- 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
- 1 small clove of garlic, minced
- 1 stalk of celery, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1.5 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
- 1/2 cup Ian’s Panko Breadcrumbs, original or whole wheat
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, onion, garlic, celery, and egg.
- Add soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger, and pepper. Mix well.
- Slowly stir in the breadcrumbs. If necessary, add additional tablespoons of breadcrumbs until the mixture begins to stick together.
- Spray a grill pan or skillet with cooking spray over medium heat.
- Form the tuna mixture into thin patties, about palm-sized. Place directly into the grill pan. Cook the patties for 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove from heat and serve. Enjoy!
